Smiling about Your Fresh Breath

Fresh breath important year-round and especially if you have or are hoping to meet someone special. It doesn’t matter if you been married for decades or are just going on your first date, as there’s nothing more embarrassing than being told you have bad breath, no matter how gently they give you the bad news. Here’s what you need to do to maintain beautifully fresh breath.

Make sure you brush your teeth at least twice a day and don’t forget to brush your tongue. Your tongue harbours lots of bacteria, some of which create noxious odours. It’s essential to floss at least once a day, as food trapped between your teeth can rot, and it provides the ideal energy source for bad-smelling bacteria. If you wish, you can finish your routine with mouthwash, but be sure to choose a brand that is alcohol-free and preferably antimicrobial for added benefit.

Make a point of eating dairy-based foods such as natural yoghurt for breakfast as this helps to restore good bacteria in your gut, and sugar-free dairy foods are great for strengthening teeth. Drink plenty of water during the day as it will keep your mouth moist and helps to flush away excess bacteria and loose food particles.
