Soy is the Best Alternative to Cow’s Milk

If you are looking for a plant-based alternative to cow’s milk, then soy is your best option. Canadian researchers have discovered that soy milk has most of the essential nutrients compared to rice, almond and coconut milk. Although cow’s milk is still a complete source of carbohydrate, protein and fat, soy milk offers a decent amount of protein with approximately 7 to 12 g per cup. Also, soy milk has phytonutrients, which have cancer-fighting properties.

Almond milk was found to be most beneficial for weight loss and for reducing bad cholesterol, but it contains very low levels of protein and carbohydrate and is less nutritionally balanced compared with soy milk. Rice milk was found to contain the least amount of nutrients.

Plant-based milk can be great for people who are lactose intolerant, but it is crucial to consider lost nutrients and to consume milk alternatives with foods that are rich in proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
