What is the CDBS?

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is designed to provide basic preventative and essential dental care for children qualifying for this government scheme and who are aged between two and seventeen. These children must be part of a family receiving a Family Tax Benefit Part A, or another applicable payment from the Australian government. The scheme gives children access to up to $1000 in dental benefits over two calendar years. If your child qualifies, there is no need to register as the Department of Human Services should contact you if they are eligible.

Which Services Are Covered?

Services covered include preventative dental care like dental checkups and professional dental cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments and dental sealants. Other services provided are fillings, root canal treatment and tooth extractions. The CDBS doesn’t cover orthodontic care or cosmetic dentistry, or dental services provided in a hospital.

How Do I Use It?

Our dental team here at Happy Rock Dental can make sure your child gains maximum benefit from the scheme. We will provide a preventative dental care plan based on the benefits available during each two-calendar year period. They will receive exactly the same high standard of dental care provided to all our patients, and our entire dental team love seeing and treating children, helping to ensure they feel comfortable and relaxed in the dental chair.
